Cattle manure is a versatile fertiliser. In order to use it at your farm you need to know its characteristica and nutirent analyses must carefully be studied. The most important nutrients are nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The main part of the nitrogen is in organic form and the soluble nitrogen impact the yield during the distribution year. How is organic nitrogen mineralised and how could nitrogen be used in a more efficient way? And how can we prevent nutrients from evaporating?

In the project information on own manure, their composition and nutrient content were described. Different cultivation and distribution methods suitability were described and the effects of fertilising was observed on field trials.

At Haapajärvi Vocational Collage there were carried out different fertilising trials on grasslands and fodder barley. Biogas reject was used in the fertilising trials, besides other fertilisers.
